Exclamation Oil light flickers when idling only when warm????

My astra (2003) SRI 2.0ltr Diesel oil light flickers when in idle and goes out when over 1000 rpm (ish) and it only happens when the engine is warm.
I have changed the oil pressure sensor and still no joy.
I now suspect the oil temperature sensor??? ANY IDEAS WELCOME!!!!

    It sounds ridiculous...

But you only mention changing the oil pressure sensor, have you actually checked the oil level and made sure it is on max?

Yes i checked oil level first, its just had a major service and it was like it before the service.
The service was done by myself so i know it was carried out correctly.

If you are lucky you may get away with a new set of gears in the oil pump and bottom end bearings, leave it much longer and you will throw a rod.

If you are even luckier you will find the wire from the oil pressure switch is earthing out somewhere but as the engine moves when you rev it the short stops.

First port of call is to NOT start it up again until an oil pressure gauge is plugged in, if that means using a breakdown truck to get to a garage then do it

And sorry to say the service was not carried out correctly else you would have diagnosed the issue whilst doing it

Oil pressure drops as the oil warms up, so i'd guess its not a wiring fault, although it could be. Obviously if the light is coming on and off, the pressure must be far too low when the oil warms up, indicating a serious problem.

More than likely an issue with the oil pump itself? As above, new gears in the pump may fix the issue, if it were me i'd just swap the whole thing.

Unless the bottom end sounds like its knocking not sure what the bottom end bearings are gona do though?
