HELP, think i've ****ed my seat

I was putting seat covers on and i decided to remove the plastic side bit where the seatbelt is conected. i pulled the seat adjuster, the one that tilts the back. when i tried to put it back in it wouldn't go all the way in. buggered about for a bit and it went all in, BUT it only tilts now on the side with the nob. Any ideas as to what i may have done and how to fix?

I did the same, on the other side there is a panel that if you remove will be a plastic plug that goes into the end of the tube. If you then put a thin screw driver and use that to guide the rest of the bar fully in then use the plug to secure it so it doesent slide back out again.
