    bent towbar

I bought a towbar from ebay a few weeks ago and when I went to fit it today, I noticed that one of the brackets is bent. Must have happened in transit, but I think it's too late to send it back now. it won't fit because the holes fall just a little short of the bolts on one end.

Can it be straightened? Would is still be safe to use if I had it straightened?

I doubt if I could do it myself - maybe I could with a really big hammer - would a garage be able ot do a better job, do you think? Thanks.

I find a really big hammer solves many problems.
