Can you tighten up windscreen winder stem?

    Hello

The drivers side window winder is becoming harder and harder to wind up/down with the small knob often flying off the handle as I try to wind.

I removed the door card and had a look. The window winder stem has a bit of play in it. I can move it up/down/right/left a little and wonder if this is an easy fix or if I need to replace the whole mechanism.

Do I need to remove the whole mechanism to effect repair if it's possible?

have you disconnected the glass from the runner to se if the problem is with the runners? Easiest way to check the winder mechanism is to drill out the rivets and take it out. Will need a few new rivets or large self tappers to put it back, you can buy the inner wing screws from VX for a few p each to do the job nicely

Hello jalfrezigazee & thanks for your response

I'm a beginner when it comes to stuff like this ... I don't know much but am a keen learner with limited resources.

Removing the door card without wrecking it was a minor achievement for me but I feel I'd be pushing my luck removing anything behind the plastic.
