Thumbs Up astra Mk 5 'H' Central Locking/ deadlock Problems solved

R/h/R door deadlocked day 1 to the point it wouldn't open from inside

car totally deadlocked to the point where driver door only opens with key on Day 2

solution i tried first but wasn't needed so don't do this first ok

removed rear seat pad so i could climb around inside back of car without wrecking it

removed as much of the door pad so i could get a arm in to fiddle around with connections etc

dropped back seat down to find blown fuse which i blew another one b4 realising real problem

now this is what i should have done first.

the original problem started with the right hand rear door first so since the driver door was the only door i could open this was lucky on my part that i still had access to the rear door harness which goes into the car body.

pull rubber grommet from car body and gently pull each cable within the rubber sleeving. it was quite tricky since the rubber had to be pulled away from both ends so be patient with this ok

i had a red cable snapped
i had a white cable snapped
i had a brown cable snapped

the whole assembly seemed tight so extend the cabling if you find your in the same situation as i think this is a design fault. feed new cable through rubber and rejoin leaving cable a couple inches longer than before.

so there you have it everyone.
The internet didn't help me at all when i was looking for help it was purely a headache which i solved myself without specialised tools and i hope this information described above gives people some hope that the internet can direct you to helpful info when you have a problem. at least i found this forum to spread my misfortune

check these rubber sleeves for defects first as i probably wasted 3 hours messing around elsewhere.

not sure how i resetted the locks/ deadlock as the car was in shock still i reckon but once i had done the repair and put the fuse back in. i disconnected battery for a few seconds and reconnected. removed fuse and refitted fuse. boot lid started to work.then drivers side worked but not other side so i went in for a coffee and was still scratching head a bit. maybe 15 mins later i started to mess with fobs and it all started to work again. this bit i still don't understand so if anyone can help with this.

Unhappy Deadlock problem on rear tailgate

After owning my Mk 5 H astra estate for 1week , the rear tailgate is jammed shut , all over doors work ok with central locking .I suspect I have the same problem as Robchic.
I would appreciate your advice on locating the cabling to the rear tailgate
to check without pulling out all the rear internal panels , where do I start ?

    central locking

I cant lock my passenger doors with the key in drivers door. but remote fob locking works. Does this mean the can bus wires from the drivers door to the passenger door is a different route from the remote? sounds like the can bus on doors could raise safety issues if it fails with doors closed. Astra H all doors deadlocked due to broken wires on the back door pillar. could only use the key to open driver door before it became free from the deadlock. Eventhough i could hear the solenoids for the other door open, i still couldnt open the doors due to the deadlock. The green/black cable in the cables going to the driver door is the deadlock link. I remove the clip to the driver door attached a long piece of wire to this cable, reconnected the clip back to the driver door and closed the driver door. I Touched the other end of the wire to a -ve teminal of any bear metal on the car. I lock and unlocked the door with the key button and the deadlock came off.
