need help on buying the quickest diesel

hello all, i will soon be in the market for a used car turbo diesel i am looking for some think sporty and fast once remapped, the cars i am interested in are the astra sport hatch 1.9 cdti 150, ibiza cupra 160, leon cupra 160, bmw 1 series 120d.

so what car will be the quickest once remapped and most reliable?

my head is telling me the ibiza 160 seeing that its got vw under the hood for reliability and 160bhp out of the box with the least wieght for speed am i right or is it the bmw?

The beemer is the best drivers car, RWD and they are very well balanced. They are pricey though.
    Previous Astras: 1994 Cesaro 1.8 16v | 2002 SXi 1.6 16v | 2001 Coupé 2.0 Turbo | 1999 LS 1.6 16v
    Other Vauxhalls: 2001 Vectra 1.8 16v| 2003 Vectra GSi 3.2 V6 | 2005 Signum CDTi 150

To be honest the only one I have drove was the beamer. To be honest was not impresed. All you are paying for is the name. All i can think of is people who buy 1 series BMW want the name but can afford a proper one

but the 1 series is expensive as well i think im not fussed on what badge is on the car as long as its good quality, reliable and performs well.

have to agree, 1 series is about driveway appeal - its a BMW, drop your BMW keys on the desk at work, never use the words my car again, always say My BMW (loudly so more people can hear). Its a shame cause they are a nice car just driven by too many wannabe snobs.

Most performance diesels are fast now, take your pick but dont expect huge MPG if you use the performance.

Power wise, a tuning box on the 150 CDTi tends to get ~200bhp and whopping amounts of torque...plenty enough to keep up with the VXR for the most part.

I looked at all the above you had there plus one more. And it was the one you havnt got there that i ended up getting.

The 1 Series i couldnt justify the price.
The Seat's ride was too harsh
And the Astra 1.9 just didnt seem special enough.

Why not have a look at a 2.2 diesel civic. Great engine and can be mapped to near 200bhp. And they have masses of torque!
