    Does your handbrake work

Ever since ive had the astra the handbrake has never worked properly. Its annoyed me constantly but never enough to fix it. I was speaking to someone else tonight and their hanbrake doesnt work on the astra either.

Mine has drums on the back and so does his and I was wondering if the crap handbrake has anything to do with the drums?
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

There is an art to adjusting rear drums properly!

Get it right and it all works perfectly.
Get it worng and the brakes will work but the handbrake won't (Usually over adjusted)

Yes. But the auto adjusters on my drums are about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. So every now and again I have to strip the brakes down give em a bloody good clean and tighten and off I go again.

if it does not work then it is most probably down to adjustment, if when you lower the lever it goes all wobbly at the bottom and has slackness in the cable then a shoe lever is siezed. See my how to for details
