Oh no.. Snapped a bolt! EGR

Well after cleaning my EGR, the car started to judder if i gently accelerated in 3rd gear, at around 2500, 3000 ish RPM.

so decided to use my blanking plate....

Was doing the bolts up, and SNAP... snapped the head clean off inside the hole, ive got it held on by one at the moment as tight as i want to risk it.... would you say its safe?

Not too sure where to go from here... is it easy to take the hole lot of because i have a mate that is a cnc machinist, but he cant do it on the car!

    cheers guys

Get a hold of an easy-out, its a reverse screw thread that tightens as you extract the broken stud. All you need do is drill a pilot hole for it to get a grip on. You could try and drill it out but could damage the threads if not done right.

I would get it sone sooner rather than later as exhaust gasses will be vented with it not sealing correctly and may effect fuel economy

Well, my mates had a look at it, and hes not sure if the hole goes straight down, because he doesnt want to drill it and swarf go into the inlet!!!...

does anyone know if it goes all the way through if you take the left hand EGR bolt out???

Put a bit of rag in the hole for EGR and drill it to allow removal with a stud extractor or if you can get down to it use a dot punch and hammer it anti clockwise , cant remeber if the they are through holes but I think they are blind holes to be honest .
