Well I bought the car in feb 2006 after my Corsa B was written off, so off I went looking for a Astra G hatchback, I wanted a 3 door but settled for a 5 door as the price was right and it only had 17,000 miles on the clock.
This is the car 2 days after owning, I had the rear GSi spoiler fitted at the Vauxhall garage as part of the deal and I went and bought the alloys that afternoon and had it lowered by 40mm the next morning and painted the callipers that afternoon so a busy few days.
From then I hunted ebay and AOC for diff parts and I've had maybe 3 or 4 sets of wheels since owning the car as went off them after a few months, when I went to the bodyshop to get some bits done I was offered a damaged front airdam for £100 painted, fitted and repaired, it only had a small split which is not visable after its repair, from there I had some other bits done and a reiger back bumper fitted, that was on for a year or 2 then I thought hmm I'm going off that now and went for the SRi-T splitter as wanted to make the car look more standard/classy so had one of them picked up second hand and painted and fitted and then had the door mouldings flattened back and sprayed again as wanted to loose the texture from them and at the same time the side skirts done. So that was the exterior done.
Next I went for brakes, I hated the drums from start so when the chance of some rear disks came up from a member on AOC it was off to Scotland to collect them and while I was their he offered to fit them for me FOC... Bonus!!
After that I got some proper springs and shocks to make the ride better, then I went and got a front strut brace to make the front end abit more rigid and also got a Whiteline ARB at the back, so that was the mechanical side of things sorted till I found out i could get 308mm brakes on a 4 stud, so next I purchased the kit I needed from a member on AOC and had the disks redrilled from Steve at and got them fitted, pretty happy with the mechanical side of things I went from that to....
I.C.E and an alarm, decided to have a look round and got talking to some bloke I worked with who said he was a audio specialist and used to work for turners and done installs on loads of celebs cars but left as became ill and said would get me a system and install it for me over a few weekends so agreed on what I wanted and then got stuck on with it, I was going and helping him so I could see how it was all made should I ever need to remove it. I went for a clifford alarm as theres loads of addons i fancied so had that fitted around the same time with remote start, auto lights etc etc
Then the interior, being a SXi it wasnt too bad, but seats... I wanted leather so off I went looking for some leather seats or a retrim, I came across some half leather GSi recaros for £500 in London, I rang the lad and had a bit of a chat with him and he sent some pics over and I thought what the hell ill go down n have a look, so off I went on a long day out and when I got there they were immaculate as promised so I was over the moon, even more so when he offered to fit them for me.
Next came the dash I wasnt too happy with the black plastic so out it came and went to the bodyshop to be colour coded in the cars colour (midnight black) and that got refitted a few days later and it looks great, got the usual irmsher bits... door pins, gear knob etc etc and interior was almost complete till I discovered some heated mats from LMF, after a bit of convincing the Mrs I was almost done she gave in and they got ordered and fitted and they are a top bit of kit, better then the standard ones!
Then along the way I added few bits here and there like a Pioneer Avic X1R head unit, full exhaust system, HID's, PS2, screens in head rests, engine start button etc etc.
I had a remap done to sort out some flatspots and get max power from the 1.6 engine I have (wish I went for a 2.0T at the begging but never mind) always a engine conversion in the future...
Also fancied the mk5 key so found a how 2 and set off with the dremil and with some help from a friend and we ended up with this...
Loads of other things were done in the middle of jobs but cant go in to detail about everything so here are the up to date pics and the current spec of the mods I have done....
Wheels and brakes
Managed to get hold of some blue seatbelts out of a GSi, few hours later after some modding and changing of bits i ended up with this
Next i wanted a bit of a change to the centre console to house some new switches for the door lock/unlock and boot bop, but i wanted this to look very OEM, after looking at the cab console my gf has i had a great idea and it came out looking like this...
left window switch does (up-open / down-lock) and right switch, up and down both pop the boot (only with ignition on)
Here's the pics of the heated seats switches (green led for low heat and red for max heat)
Some custom clocks I had made which are a one off
