No underbonnet insulation on Astra H?

    Hi ,

I just bought a Astra 1.6 Design Estate 2008 and noticed there is no insulation of any kind under the bonnet. Is this right?

I ask as my previous Mk4 Astra 2.2 did have insulation and thought it didn't seem right. If its how they are, then its no problem.

Also, does anyone else find that the bonnet looks like its not quite been latched down correctly. There is quite a gap between the bonnet and the front grill. It seems comparable to other Astras, but looks a bit odd.

Other than that, excellent car and should hopefully meet my needs as have a baby on the way and as much as I loved driving the Mk4 SRi, it was just too impractical.

Thanks for any advice or reassurance.

Thats correct, the Astra H doesnt have bonnet insulation. You will see a pressed honeycomb-eque section under the bonnet which supreses the noise rather than the old carpet type.

Also yes there is a gap between the grille and bonnet edge on all the Astra H cars.

    Hope this helps.

Many thanks for the reassurance. Yep, under the bonnet, there is a metal section with holes in it from what I can remember as you describe.

    Again, thanks.
