was just sitting here, reading AOC when I heard screeching of brakes, an almighty THUMP and, fearing the worst (there are quite a few accidents on this corner) I rushed outside to find a black jag or rover stationary in the street, and a silver golf back-end into my sister's house (which I'm house sitting this weekend) The black car drove away, a woman walking along said the silver one had just missed hitting the black one and forced him into my road, we went over to the golf and found it locked and empty.
The witness hadn't seen anyone get out of it, she just saw it going backwards down the street (on a hill) in front of the black car, mounted the kerb, narrowly missed a parked car and came to an abrupt halt against my wall. Luckily it's an old stone built house and it hit the most solid bit - the corner, so fortunately the house appears ok. The golf, however needs a new tail light and bumper, and possibly work behind the bumper.
Not knowing whose it was I called the police, however when they were on their way a woman came out of a house further up and said it was hers. The handbrake had been on, but had failed. As she didn't leave it in gear on the hill, it just started rolling.
I couldn't get pics unfortunately as (1) no camera (2) camera phone full (3) no flash on the camera phone and (4) too dark, but I did get names/addresses of the witnesses and the car owner, and the cops said she was insured just in case there is any damage to the house which we can't see yet, but I'm sure it'll be fine tbh.
Was just a bit of an interesting interlude to the evening.
