Suitable earth for battery in boot?

I'm planning on relocating the battery to the spare wheel well this weekend. Would earthing the battery to the wall of the well (sanded back of course) be sufficient? Or would it be better to run it through the well wall, and then earth it to the chassis somewhere?

    Thanks.

anywhere really as long as its a good contact.

dependant on where the battery is going to be will be your first option.

e.g if its next to the wheel well, there is and earthing point there, if its near the boot door there is on there also if its in the wheel well due to its construction and purpose your best to earth it outside the well

Thanks Steve. So you'd really recommend against trying to earth it to a hole drilled in the well floor or well wall itself?

If i was going to do it i would weld a mounting nut to the wheel well and run the cable straight to that as short as possible. This was you can at least attach other thing.

When we did Pete's car we drilled the boot floor near to the battery, cleaned the surrounding metal, put a bolt through from under neath with a nut on top, Pete the weleded it and finally another nut went on top to secure the ring terminal for the earth

Looks like welding the connection is a good idea. Think I'll go to an auto elec with wires in place and get them to do the connection bits, will post pics up when all done. Thanks .
