Replacing Head Unit, Double Din, What Do I Need?

    Hi,

I'm new on here, just bought a 57 SRI astra, one of the thing's that needs changing has got to be the standard head unit. Been looking at post's, some have answered my question's and some I can't find. Any response would be great and would love to hear your view's.

I'm looking at the Alpine IVA-W502R, I've seen a few people have installed this double din unit in the astra. Detailed below is the accessories I need to buy, I think to enable it to fit/work.

    1. CAN-BUS Adaptor - not sure if I need this as well as a wiring harness?
    2. Wiring Harness
    3. Facia Adaptor - Double din facia, by connects2, I'm not sure the correct colour?
    4. Vehicle Interface - Work's with the patch lead
    5. Alpine Stereo Patch Lead

Anything else, I think that's all I need to get the head unit functional and working with the steering wheel controls.

    Welcome mate

Seeing as your choosing a Alpine headunit all you will need is the canbus steering wheel adaptor made by alpine which is also a quadlock- ISO wiring adaptor. You also obviously need the facia plate as you say. Finally you may need a aerial adaptor as i'm not sure if the alpine canbus leads come with them

    Hope this helps

    Thanks Autosparks

With this CanBus adapter, I've fount these two items

    CON-CTALPINELEAD by Connects 2
    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/conn...or-p-6233.html

    CON-CTSVX002
    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ctsv...or-p-6249.html

I could only find a KCE-UNICAM made by Alpine, not sure if I'm on the right track. Sorry if this seems a dumb assumption, If not, do you know the part number/s that I will need?

    Thanks again

Two adapters by Alpine the Display and Steering wheel control adapter part no: APF-D102OP and the Steering wheel control only adapter the APF-100OP.

The alpine leads do not come with the aerial adapter so you will need one of those, but the adapters have all the connectors and wiring you need to get your headunit in.

A note to remember is that the alpine adapters do not have speed pulse and Reverse gear on them soi if you are adding navi then you need to be creative.

Me personaly I would get the APF-D102OP as the display portion finishes off the display nicely and makes it look oem.

This along with the Connects2 fascia and the aerial adapter and away you go. Job done!

Thanks guy's for all your help, I'll probably get the parts ordered soon. I'll let you know how I get on with the install. I agree, I've always used Alpine head unit's. Doe's anyone know the right colour of the dash in the SRI? Or where to find this information? I know there is a few different colour's available that look quite similar.
I've had a look at aerial adaptor's, not sure which one would be the correct one. I know autoleads have 4 different aerial adaptors for the astra, I know two types available Din and ISO versions, not sure which one would be correct, any idea's would be a great help.

    Thanks Again!

I'm guessing that the fascia for the SRI will be the chrome metallic, it's either that or the beige, anthracite metallic.
I've fount two aerial adapters by autoleads,
PC5-136 - Aerial adaptor to ISO
PC5-137 - Aerial adaptor to DIN
I'm not too sure which is the correct one for the installation.

I'm 95% sure alpine's have ISO aerial connectors on them so the PC5-136 is what you need
