1.9 CDTi 150 engine, to be avoided?

    hiya,

I'm looking at buying a 1.9 CDTi 150 Vectra. I believe this shares the same engine as the Astra. I've been over on Vectra-c.com and there seems to be loads of horror stories about problems with this engine. What's people's experiences of it in the Astra? Has it been good for you or have you had loads of problems with EGR, swirl flaps, DMF etc?

Someone said the swirl flaps were refurbed around 2005 and the problem has been resolved, can anyone confirm/deny this?

    Thanks,

    knox

I have had my car a year now and done 15,000 miles and not one single problem.

Is a very good engine imho.

that's encouraging to hear I've heard good things about the CDTi engine until I went to Vectra-c.com lol and then got worried it was a lemon or something

good good, just bought myself a 1.9 CDTi 150 Vectra. Hopefully get it Tuesday, just seems lots of people on vectra-c.com with horrendous stories about swirl flaps, EGR valves and DMF costing them lots! Glad to hear people are having good experiences too.
