Unhappy Yet another HID query...... please read.......

    Hi there, quick question.........

HID's failed my mot, the guy said there wasn't enough kick up/off on the passenger side light but the drivers side was fine does the bulbs need to be in a certain way? like the two bits that actually make the bulb, i mean basically parallel or horisontal to each other, or does it make much difference the way they are in the headlight? i did notice they were sitting different.

I changed to standard bulbs and they passed fine,

And when they were out i noticed yellow type blotches on the glass, is that suppost to be there? i never noticed when i put them in the first time. lol. thinking maybe i knocked them against summit when i took them out?

    any help much appresiated......

Not sure about positioning but do they both shine blue?

I remember seeing a set where one was the right colour and the other was more of a yellowy colour. If so test both bulbs on either ballast. (that way you can see if its a faulty ballast or bulb)

sounds like ur bulb has gone a bit pete tong if there blotches on it.

You cant clean em (well as far as im aware)

so you May be able to contact the seller and see what they say, see if they work in either ballast though as you have nowt to lose!

White spirit or alcohol to clean the bulb, don't get your fingers on the bulb as it is the oil in your hands that make the bulb create a weak spot and crack

HID bulbs are more than glass and i would definitly not be cleaning them with anything.
If a bulb is shot it will go more of a yellowy colour rather than the 'K' rating it should be.
They can be bought for around £15 a pair on ebay now so just buy a new set..
