Bit of advice needed re: plugs and rocker cover gasket

    Hi guys,

Would a knackered R.C.gasket screw up my spark plugs by letting oil onto them?

Getting a long hesitation on full load before it takes off and a slightly weaker boost than normal.

Once over 4k revs seems ok but something is defo not quite right. I'm %90 sure its not the AFM but I guess it could also be BCS? Knackered plugs sound like the most likely tho as there is quite a bit of oil leaking around the rocker cover. The plugs are denso iridiums and are only about 3 months old. Any opinions welcome!

Mine was leaking allowing oil into one of the plugs and it was misfiring, I tidyed up the oil in the plug chamber, put a new RC gasket on, took the coil off and sprayed contact cleaner up into it and that was it sorted. Running fine now.

do the gasket as it needs doing anyway!! if it solves the problem then happy days! when you get the gasket you want the ten o rings as well!
sounds to me that its the gasket causing all this!!

When my gasket was leaking the spark plug holes were filled to the brim with oil. A RR place pumped it out and cleaned coil pack before running the car, but by the time I changed the gasket a week or so later they were filled back up again.

It made no difference to the running of my car at all.

Make sure you have something to suck the oil out of the plugs with. Its impossible using a straw and beer bottle

Got it done at my local garage in the end as I didnt have all the tools and they're pretty cheap tbh. Only cost me £25 and was worth it as there was a big mess! Plugs covered in oil but were still ok luckily. Just cleaned everything up, replaced the gasket and car is running perfectly again (touch wood) Love it when things are cheap to fix
