I've had one before as a young'N about 13 years ago or so but i genuinely can't remember what it was like, plus it was only for 3 weeks back then.
Basically, my cast comes off on Monday, by which time i'll have had it on for 6 weeks and here's the important bit - i'll have not put any weight on the leg in all that time.
I've slipped now & then while it's been on & it's been a strange & quite uncomfortable sensation when the foot has jammed to the floor as i've lost my balance.
I asked the specialists associate who saw me on the day about returning to work & he said i should be able to return as soon as it comes off.
thing is, he never even asked what i did for a job. I don't sit at a desk, i'm on my feet for 10hours minimum per day, i'm climbing on and off, operating machinery, lifting heavy items, walking in heavy boots.
I'm not trying to wangle time off, as i could do with going back for the money.
Friends & family reckon i wont be able to go back immediately, but they've not had a leg cast on before, so imo, can't really say.
Anyone had one on for about 6week NON-weight-bearing? Should i be expecting to get back to normal instantly or did you find it took a while?
Would just like an idea of what to expect. I know everyone is different, but if it's a few days/weeks recovery then i'd like to know so i could prepare tbh.
