Question 2006 55 Astra SXI 1.6 TWINPORT Cam Belt

    Hi Folks,

This is my first post here and I have very little car knowledge so please be gentle

I've just bought the above car and have been reading about how important it is to ensure the cam belt doesn't snap. I've been looking into this and some people say it needs replaced after 40K miles but others 100K. Does anyone have the definitive answer please? It's done 35k so far.

I've got another couple of questions too

    - would this model of Astra be classed as a MK 5/H?

    - is there anything else I need to look out for car maintenance wise?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

    Hello and welcome,

I'm sure on your car it's cambelt is due every 4 years or 40,000 miles. You would be a very brave Man or Woman to leave it as long a 100,000 miles.

Yes your car would be a Astra MK5 (H) and as for other maintenance, Service every 10,000.

All this information should be in the owners handbook.

    Hope this helps
Now Running Boost, AWD and a Flat 4.
