    Hello and help

    Hi folks

Just got an Astra mk4 coupe Turbo

never noticed when i viewed it that the idle was slightly rough.

I checked the breather pipe at back of rocker cover gasket and found it split. is this a common fault and does it cause a rough idle?

    Cheers in advance

Not sure if that'll cause it, but it certainly wont help.
Hoses splitting is probably the most common fault on these cars,
maybe check your spark plugs? when was the car last serviced?

Either way fix the cracked pipe...I can't be a good thing to have..

Rough idle could be old crap plugs, wrongly gapped plugs (either way replace and see if it goes), the AFM or there is an field service fix for a bad earth in the wiring loom that causes rough idle and error codes.

Do a search on here for "dodgy earth" and you should find something...Fixing this fixed an error code and sorted my idle prob too...

The plugs were just changed in the last month along with the oil and coil packs.

I've had bmw's and Subarus so im stil a novice with the astra engine. I'll have a look around and see what i can find.

Hi ya welcome to the club,

not sure if it's a common fault but yes a split breather pipe could cause a

    rough idle.

Get the cam belt done .
