    CD30 Stereo Problem

    Hi all,
1st post and help from you folks would be most welcome.

    Here is the problem.

The CD player and Radio work no problem, ie I have sound. However the display in the middle of the dash just displays the time, date and temperature. Pressing buttons such as `settings` have no effect on the display. I can change the preset radio stations and the station does change, but no effect on the display still time, date and temp. Nothing I press seems to have any effect on the display.

In addition to this all of the steering wheel controls have ceased to work.

The stereo also now stays on when I turn the engine off and remove the key from the ignition.

I don't recall doing anything deliberate (however, working in IT I know the `I ain't touched it Guv` excuse might not be exactly the case).

I have had a look in the manual it doesn't describe the above problem that I can see and the `Settings` button doesn't seem to do anything so I can't really follow much of the manual.

My knowledge of car electrics is absolutely next to naff all, so please be gentle!

Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

the date, time and temp will always stay but u cant see what track you are playing and/or what radio station you are listening too?

dunno bout the wheel controls sorry lol

to turn the stereo off when the key is removed (but still availible to listen to by pressing the on button) you have to...

    * press "settings" button
    * search across to the "system settings" (i believe)
    * IGN LOGIC (should be the only setting in that sub folder) and turn it ON.

    hi thanks for replying.
bang on, I can hear the radio station or cd but the stereo does not display what station or cd track is on!

I would try and change the settings as you describe, but pressing the Settings button doesn't change the display.... it just stays on time, date and temp! So I can't see the menus to do anything... aaaaaaarggggh!

i see what you mean now

did they used 2 work and suddenly just stop?

might be just a blown fuse on the wheel controls (if it has a dedicated fuse for it) which is causing the screen not to function properly?

sure someone will give u a definate answer soon

yep, got in the car this morning and that was how it was... most frustrating!

I thought it might be a fuse or something, but as I said, I don't really have much of an idea about that sort of thing.

    Hello,

Not exact same problem but similar... I bought a 1.9cdti design three weeks ago and this weekend i was interested to learn how the trip computer works.... As the manual suggests the BC button when pressed takes you to this menu. However the message i get is 'no function'. Also both controls on the steering wheel operate the radio???

Can anyone tell me if i might have a problem and may never get the information i require on individual trips, mpg etc.

    Thanks Matthew

    Welcome Matthew

It may well be that yours isn;t fitted with the computer, the manuals just tell you about how every optional extra works on the car

Regarding whether the Design as the trip computer function i don't know, I would have thought so, i thought this model was up there with the SRI.... May be need to speak with Vauxhall......

The steering wheel controls......the right button functions the radio as should ie volume control. The left two buttons alter the radio station, or move to the next track if listening to a CD...

    Ta for response.
