use the search function and type in "resistor crap ebay" and you'll more than likely be inundated with results pertaining to this mod

This basically is a resistor (that cost about 1p when brought in bulk) in a plastic box with a few wires. Basically you connect it into the one of the sensors causing the car to think the ambient air temperature is lower than it is. The result is that the petrol timing is altered. I doubt you'd see any increase if power, just an increase in fuel. It's a long standing con to be honest.

What it does is (as mentioned) fool the air intake temperature sensor into thinking the air is colder than it is - this means the ECU puts more fuel into the cylinders...which probably means more power but it does this in a dodgy way by fooling the ECU. The engine will overfuel and longer term it's debatable how good this is for the engine. And yeah, it will mean your MPG is affected too as you'll be using more fuel.

More gains to be had with the normal intake mods on the Astra engines...

Mine has been overfueling when it was running broken and its not good. Too much fuel slows you down - the same as too little does as it bogs down the engine, and to top it off completley shags your spark plugs in a very short time. Save the 7.50, save the 15 quid youd have to fork out for sparkplugs in a months or so time and with the money saved in petrol buy yourself a nice panel filter and do a good free mod of deristricting the airbox.
It would definitely go better with an engine in it
