    Decatting 2.2 SRI

Is this a worth while mod? I have read the guide to removing the Pre-cat on this site and am looking to do it soon.

What gains will come from just the Pre-cat?

    will it drink more fuel?

Will I need to de-restrict the air box or fit an improved air filter first?

Is a complete decat a better move? eventhough id have to refit it for MOTS?

    Cheers

I noticed a big difference when i did it on my 1.8,does use a little more fuel but as do all engine related performance mods.
    Well worth doing IMO.
A straight through pipe is much better than a normal de-cat.
& as for changing it over for MOT's its only 4 bolts, but worth the hassle .

I wrote the how-to on here and in hindsight, I wouldn't recommend it now

Removing the pre cat won't release any more power, but it will make it slighty more responsive responsive.

Do the airbox, veccy pipe and panel filter first - that will defo make an improvemnt on a 2.2

Taff - your engine is an X-series IIRC and you can happily decat those. that's not the case with a Z-series one

check the how-to's for the derestricting and the veccy pipe (there be part nos listed)

The panel filter replaces the standard air filter, and flows better for longer than a paper one -When it's crudded up you can clean it, and slip it back in again. Try LMF for those
