    Break Light problem

Hello I have a Vauxhall Astra Envoy from 2001 and today I found the brake light isn't working, I've just put a new bulb in but that still isn't working either, all the other lights are working including the same bulb for the side lights.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be the problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Jane.

    Welcome to the site.

Did you buy a dual element bulb, or a single element bulb?

If you have only got one element in it, this is probably your problem.

If you still have the original bulb, compare the 2 together to make sure they are the same.

Hi Pete, thanks for your welcome.

Yes I've brought the dual bulb as I can see two elements, one of them works (as regards the side lights) but not the other for the break?

    Welcome mate

I'm assuming the brake lights work else where on the car?

Try removing the bulb holders on the bad side and checking for corrosion on the terminals

Hi Autosparks, that's right they do work everywhere just the bottom left brake light.

I will check the terminal for corrosion but as it's a dual one it should work as the bit that does the side light works.

Just out of interest does anyone know who much Kwik Fit would charge to have a look at it, I need to get it sorted so it looks like a visit to the garage beckons?

The connection problem may be where the wiring goes onto the bulb cluster which is why just one part of the bulb would be effected

No idea if kwik fit would even look at it
