    coolant level question

Hi all, was just wondering should the coolant level when cold be at the lip/slightly above on the expantion tank. i was just reading through the haynes manual and noticed it says it should be around there, mines a tiny bit under the lip. Now ive only had the car 8 months and the dealer will of been the last person to touch this, its not losing any water as its always been around this mark just i thought that was the right level. should a top it up alittle?

Car in question is a 02 1.7DTI, 40K on the clock

Should be fine mate, tehre shoul dbe markers on the side of the expansion tank with min and max in it. If its in these parameters then its fine mate!

all i can see is Kalt/Cold mark. couldnt see any min/max markings. the owners manual says if its under that mark it should be topped up. is it ok to mix coolant types? havent got a clue what VX use

Yes thats rigt mate, when cold make sure it sits just above that mark.

And should be ok, if your worried go ionto VX and get some vx stuff, but it should be ok though to mix tbh!
