    Follow on to sheps Garrett question!!

    I gettin worried about my VXR turbo now after readin sheps thread, so am thinkin of changein it for a garrett GT28 and a tubular. I havent put the car to get re-mapped and set up yet with all the new stuff on so am thinkin I should change the turbo and manifold now to save to 2 trips and more dosh but av got some questions though.

    1. Where can ya buy the GT28 (is it a T3 fitment u need?)
    2. I have the CS4 setup minus the CS software, will I need to do internal work if am wantin around 330bhp???
    3. What will b better in u guys opinion over the internal and external wastegates???

    1) You can buy a T3 form most reputable places (not E-Bay!), buying a suitable and well made manifold is more difficult.
    2) If you want more than 290/300 bhp internals or a VXR block are needed.
    3) Little difference.

    When u say internals is it just a full ARP set or better goin with low comps aswell???

    Also have ya got a website for the turbo???

    You can run 310bhp safely on just ARP bolts on the botto of the conrods.

    Someone on AON ran 311.7 at the hubs with just that mod internally.

    cool, al wait till about april time and if ma car aint sold al do the mods

    1: There is a difference in the T3 and GT25/28 cores. main difference from an installation point of view is the oil feed

    2: For 330BHP as said , you'll want to get ARP rod bolts minimum. While your doing that, ditch the balance shafts as well (if its a Z20LET).

    3: Internal are easier to fit and for 330bhp going external (with the extra cost) will be of no benefit.

    The GT28 series of turbos are really good. The GT2860RS is excellent and spools up better than the GT28R. Another good option in the Garrett range is the GT2871R with a 0.64 A/R housing is really good and spools almost as fast. I have to hold my Garrett of boost a little at low rpm and speeds as it breaks traction to easy. The 71 comes on boost a bit softer and still has big top end and also has the advantage of making any power at lower inlet temps...
