Where Do I Stand In Regards To Stolen Car Key!

I think i have just made a huge mistake. I rang my car insurance company to just ''generally'' ask what the situation is with stolen keys from my house after a break in! Before i new it, i was telling them reg numbers and everything. Then they had me up on the system, telling me my excess was etc. Cut a long story short. I'm not following it up with the insurance but they now have it on file! What will happend if my car gets stolen and all i have done is changed the imobilser code! Or nothing! Will they still payout? Or be relly funny?

I doubt they would pay out.

You need to change the lock set and get the code rest.

Imagine having your house broken into and then telling them the front door was open. They would just laugh at you for not taking the correct precautions.
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...

Just get the missing key de-programmed from the car, it cannot be stolen then or opened.

To prevent them opening the doors with the keys, change the door & boot locks. Just keep the key handy, how often do you use the key itself to unlock the car, I always use the remote as I'm sure everyone does.

So for a few barrels and a tech 2 session the stolen key is useless.
