    Cool Astra 2.0 Sri Mk4 V Astra Coupe 1.8 16v

    hello all,

Ok this is a really wierd question and its probally a very immature question but has to be asked!

i have a astra mk4 2.0sri on a 99plate and its completley standard under the hood and my mate has just bought a 1.8 16v astra coupe on a 52 plate and its also standard under the hood! so just in case you cant see where this is going ill say it anyway! lol

    which is quicker??

the reason i ask is this conversation has taken up my whole night and his plus a few of our mates. lol and yet still no agreement lol can you help???

    many thanks

They will be the same. The coupe is a touch heavier but makes up for it with better aerodynamics.

It'll be a case of who is the faster driver at the traffic light grand prix.

I'd say the SRI is quicker.

It's a smaller, lighter car, bigger engine & I believe it has a closer ratio gearbox than the 1.8 coupe.

True, from standing still to about 60, there is not gonna be much in it, & as Scott says, it will be down to the driver, but get above 60 I'd say the SRI will have the edge.

the coupe also has a CR gearbox, which i believe is the F18CR, so the gearbox isn't gonna make much difference, in all honesty is all down to who gets the better launch, the SRi may have it towards the top end, but lower down, it should be level pegging.

The book 0-60 times are 8.5 for the coupe and 9.0 for the sri so the coupe should win if both were perfect examples. When you take into account mileage, servicing, how good they were to start with ect it could change but it'll be close either way. Best way to find out is a good old drag race away from a set of lignts (on a private track of course lol )
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

    Cool

Ok i now have the answer............

after extensive research lol ( a few drag races) i have found out that the sri is quicker!!

and before anyone says the coupe driver is shit he is a semi pro race driver lol

we did best of 5 off the lights to which astra sri won the first 3 so that ended that!! we didnt bother with the other 2 lol defeat was admitted lol

so those who were right can now gloat and those who were wrong - unlucky!!
