    Battery Charger Question

I have got a Halfords Automatic Battery Charger and battery top up all in one thing. It has a 20amp fuse that can be changed (I presume for saftey) but for some reason after about 1hour it keeps poping Any idea why this would be? Is it a faulty charger (had it a while but not used it) or is it something on the car?

If it makes any differance its in the garage on charge and its obviously cold but I have it all including conections well insulated and off the floor.

Cheers for any info as I dont really want to have buy another one!

It could be the fact your running a massive battery with big amp requirements is straining it to much. By the sounds of things you could be running a full on truck battery. Would need to know the ratings on the battery to be sure though.

On the same vein has the alternator been beefed up to actually charge this monster in the future ??

How long have you had the Charger?, what model is it?

My dad got one ages ago and one day when he was in halfords getting something he noticed the lad taking them all off the shelf, turns out thre was a recall on them.

He was never told why they were being recalled and his one was perfect but he just took it back anyway and they gave him a new one, mabey yours was one of the affected one's?

what amp is the battery its pop fuses as its pulling to much power from the charger u would need a higher rated charger for it set the charger u have to trickle charge and disconect the battery from the car so the vehicle electrics dont pull no power from the battery and u should b ok

can not get to the battery at all just tried, no chance unless I want to take all the boot apart, which would be a last resort to be honest. I may just buy a better charger and get it hooked up. When we used the jump starter from the recovery wagon it worked fine.
