    The 3dr vs 5dr wondering...

This isn't the only forum i've seen it on, but i've just noticed in a current thread some 3dr vs 5dr 'debate'.

Being an outright 'disliker' of 3drs, i don't get it. Why are they seen as 'better'? As said, it's not the only site i've seen it on.
I was on an Escort board before this & it was the same there really. Now, imo (& clearly this isn't shared) some cars just look WRONG in 3dr and the Escort is most deffinately one of them.

I haaaaaaate having to get out of the chair to let people out. Also, i mainly use the car for work, and i have things on the back seat, or i'll need to put my works jacket on the back seat when i have my break in the car. When taking the g/f's 3dr, it was bloody irritating having to tilt the chair forward all the time.

So as i don't get it, could someone please enlighten me as to why the 3dr is 'better'?

    i belive its purley looks....

I went for a 5dr, but regreted it as the 3 door look much nicer to me.

Sure it was easier to let people in and out... but i was the driver so i wouldent care anyway, if i had a 3 door they would all get out the pasenger side no matter what anyway... haha

Every car looks better stock in 3dr guise imho. The inpracticality doesnt bother me, i never get in the back and dont have kids to kart around.

I do however appreciate that 5 door cars are more practical, just look worse imo.

Ateotd some people prefer 3 door and some prefer 5 doors, it shouldnt really matter as long as you are happy with your car what someone else thinks.

I would imagine a lot of it comes from the image of a 3 door being seen as the sportier model especially as the top of the range is usually in 3 door guise. It also promotes an image of being young and without comitmennts, so no need for the family 5 door model.

I generally prefer a 3 door, even in the bigger cars IE I would prefer an M6 over an M5, as I dont see the point in the extra doors. However we got a 5 door Leon because of future plans family wise.

i like 3 doors more in standard form, modded 5 doors i do appreciate more though.

If i chose what car i had, it would have been a 3 door, but glad iv got a 5door just cos when im out with mates, its easier and when im kartin stuff about i can just get to the back seats with ease

i think 3 doors are better looking and i feel safer because no randomer on the street can open the backdoor, i know u can lock them but i feel loads safer in a 3door for some reason. Does anyone else feel this or is it just me lol! also i feel alot cosier plus the tinted windows makes it even more cosier!
