    check oil level

recently did an oil change myself. Now regularly getting message check oil level. Oil level is fine - shows full on dipstick. Is it just a case of needing a tech2 to reset it or something to worry about?

silly question but how do you check your oil? Car at running temperature, engine off, Engine running? Could be the oil level sensor on the sump!

Yeah checked it without engine running and let it cool down before checking dipstick. The warning message normally comes on whilst driving.

If your oil light is coming on and there is sufficient oil in the car, then there could be an oil pressure fault, on my z16xep, there is an oil pressure switch just above the manifold heat shield, and that had packed up leaking oil onto the heat shield and causing the light to come on

he's not getting the oil light - the thread title is a clue "check oil level" as in the MFD

Tim, its more than likely a duff sensor

I think this may just need a extra 1/4 litre of oil, mine came on when it was under warrenty and even though the oil level looked fine vx said it was too low.

I know now when it comes on my car is due a service

If it reads full on the stick i wouldnt put any more in,i was told too much oil can build a pressure and do some damage to the seals.

    Hi!

How did you solve the problem?
I have the same error on my MFD, but the real level is almost full. If I top it, the message disappear, but My Z18XE-engine use some oil and the message appear again after few weeks even if it's 90% full of oil. I'm thinking about a sensor-problem. The message should only appear when level get's below 50%.
