How can i get quicker acceleration from a cdti

I have a 1.9 cdti astra sportshatch 150 on a 05 plate and would like to know how i can get quicker acceleration from it without having a tuning box or a remap.

tow it with a range rover sport, rip out the interior, full carbon body, remap!!!! only thing that will give you better perforamnce i dont no why you wouldnt want one with nearly 50bhp to be had for little out lay
project smoker is now stepping up a notch check garage for details

if its illegal to smoke until the age of 18 my astra should of been locked up ages ago!

The acceleration on the 150 as standard is really very good, not sure why you need more?

Find someone with a 2.0DTi, swap for a week and then drive yours when you get it back

Hmm...no major improvements without a tuning box/remap. Air filter/airbox mods probably relevant but they'll not make any noticeable difference!

Spend big money on a larger intercooler, better tyres, loose as much weight as possible... Or spend under £100 on a tuning box that will take you to 180 - 190 BHP and make grip in 1st, 2nd and 3rd an issue because of the torque.

How much more acceleration would a tuning box or remap give and is one better than the other or is it just down to personal preference ?

Imagine having the Sport button on all the time. That is the basic DTUK (green) box at minimum setting. Then press Sport. Get some new tyres! It is like driving on snow all the time (i.e. try and find grip). Honestly you have the best of both worlds. It improves fuel consumption but you can also have fun. I was a real cynic but am now a convert (albeit an old one).

    Enjoy
