only driver door locks with key

I have had my astra club 2008 for a few months, i have recently found out that i can only lock the diver door with the key. I asked at my local vauxhall dealer, they tell me this is the way that the car is ment to be. Is this true? it dosnt seen right that only the driver door locks

Yes it is true, its designed to get you into the car should the the battery in the remote fob fail, not as an alternative to use instead of the fob. That is why theres not external lock on the boot.

Nope, doesn't work. Happened to me a few days ago and the fob wasn't working. Nothing I did would lock the doors. I ended up sticking the key back in the ignition, starting the car, running it for 10 seconds and trying again. All went well.

God knows what you're osed to do if the battery goes. Mind you, you're sposed to change the battery every 2 years as part of the service.

every 2years? hmm oops, mine needs doing then lol.

must be a fail safe somewhere on the car, maybe near the child lock bit on the edge of the door? bit of a silly design otherwise, especially as you cant push the handle in on the inside like other cars

I would have thought that by locking the driver door with the key would lock all the doors, hence central locking?

My 2007 astra does this as well. On cold morning I want to leave the car running and lock all the doors and boot with the spare in the driver lock but only the drivers door locks.

Any one can then open any passenger door reach in and remove key unlock drivers door and f**K of with my car.

Is there any way round this. My Zafira doesn't do this.

i think you lock the drivers door with key, go to passengers side, go intop the car and press the lock button on the dash then shut the doors and there all locked.

    its pretty wierd like
