52 2.0 DTI Astra van (about to become a recycled coke can!)

randomly started causing grief about 6 months ago, ecu light keeps coming on and going into limp mode, thena bout 3 months ago it started having problems in the morning (wouldnt start) would take forever to kick over, now it just wont start atall, i took it to a garage and they said it needs a new fuel pump and the ecu re coding, and its apparently going to cost 950 quid?? is that accurate? cos that sounds insain to me!

can anyone shed some light on this?

also iv heard of others wit the same problem just wondering how common it is?

Thats cheaper than what I paid!!

Cost me £1100 for diagnostics, towing, new fuel pump(bosch),labour, and VAT!
Mine was uncoded so I didn't have to worry about that.
If its a lucas pump it should cost a good bit less than mine did!!

The way I see it is the fuel pump lasted 10years,so a new pump should last me a good few years, its been a great car apart from that one big dunt in my pocket.but like I say if it lasts a good few years now,I'll be happy!
