    Sub Question

I have a Sony Xplod headunit, and it has sub out connections in the back (the red and white ones like on a TV for sound), if I buy a sub to go in my boot do I just have to connect sound cables to this or does the sub need separate power? I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere!

Also, if I decide to run my sub this way, i.e without a separate amp, do I need an active or a passive sub or doesn't it matter?

The sub out on the headunit is to connect onto a amp then the sub, not possible to run it without a amp

    as above

you need a power cable from battery top the amp. the phono cables and remote lead (blue wire) from hu to the amp, the amp grounding and then connect sub to amp

relatively easy task matey but no direct connection unfortunately.

You could always buy an active sub, these have amps built on 2 the boxs,so u get a perrfect sub & amp match. Fli (Vibes budget range) are pretty good,u could proberly pick 1 of these up for 100quid ish .
