They are hard to use the first time. Just make sure you have removed the bonnet strut before you try to close the bonnet. Plus only try to close when you have both fitted.

i cant even shift them with my hands ? i pushed it down and it just sounded like the l shaped bracket was going to snap off the top ...also all ive done is secured the l shaped bracket up top then put the nuckle bolt through washer under neath and one on top then clipped them on and put securing rings through that right ? cos i got 2 bolts and a washer spare !

theres a tiny hole on the socket of the lifter which the straight bit of the clip goes thru, then the horseshoe shaped bit clips round the strut!

    was jus thinking....(ouch!)

make sure u got the bracket on the right way cos i did it the wrong way 1st and it did exactly what urs is doing, cos they wernt lined up properly... as u fix it to ur bonnet the bit u attach the strut to needs to point upwards towards ur bonnet, looks like it wont fit so thats why i did it wrong!!

    good luck

Sorry that this post doesn't help ...but...

Which are the best sort of bonnet lifters for the MK4?

Reason i ask is because i've done a bit of reading on these here & there on this forum over time & a fair few folk seem to have trouble with them. Some have them working 1st time, some have much bother.

IIRC, i've seen some people using INX/INNX/INXX ones on here?

Also IIRC, some bloke was whacking his into the ground to loosen them up a bit when he 1st got them lol.

Just wondered which (if any) are the most hassle free & easy to fit, as i was considering getting some - but i'm not looking for the hassle that seems to go with some of them
