    powering up a 400w amp...

hi guys, not specifically about a astra g but its electrical so please bare with me, ive salvaged a couple of big 400w amps from a car that was in a front end smash, they look fine but i havent tested them and i would like to do this weekend, ive grabbed a couple of scrap batteries from the scrapyard but they just will not charge, the charger indicates they are charged as soon as i connect them (but they arent) i would test them using my car but its away for the next week having the wing repaired that i damaged hitting a wall!!

is there some kind of power supply i can use just to check they power up and put some tunes through them?

Will move to the ICE forum mate, get a better reply there.

But basically you will need a 12v supply (+ 12v to switch amp on, can use the same cable for both), earth, a headunit to give it an input with RCA leads + speakers or a sub to connect it to.

Yeah a working car battery would be ok to power it.

Can't see why an Ipod or similar wouldn't work
