    1.9 or 2.2 airbox

hi, im wanting to change my airbox, so i can get rid of the crossover pipe.

but which is better to get, as there is a tutorial on here for the 2.2 i was going to do this. but somebody told me today that i should use the 1.9 as it keeps the heat away from the manifold/turbo.

so which should i get, and can i use the original pipes for both the 1.9 + 2.2.

    cheers,
    matt

I'm doing myself the 1.9 soon
Look over several forums and people are positive over the 1.9 air box.

I can't say much about the 2.2 airbox maybe others can tell

Little difference to be honest, the AFM is only 9" closer to the turbo on the 2.2 so that makes no difference to heat soak. The bibbest diference is you can plumb the oil breather after the afm on the 1.9 more easily.

As k3fus said not much difference between the two. They're both an improvement over standard. Personally i have 2.2 setup. You can do the 2.2 using standard pipes so is slightly cheaper option i guess.

both look smart, depends how deep your pocket is?

1.9 one your be looking at near 200 with air box, filter and all the hoses.

I have the 1.9, personally think it looks a lot nicer under the bonnet than the 2.2 and also moves the AFM further away from the turbo. Also makes it easier for fitting a 80mm AFM I believe..

    thanks for the advice.

id like to get the 1.9 but im not sure if its worth the extra money, as i would need to get new pipes, where with a 2.2 its basically just the airbox that i would need.

ive been told that for the 1.9 id need the following: 76mm 90 degree metal tube with breather hole, 76mm - 63mm 90 degree reducer, a 76 - 70 mm straight reducer and a length of 16 mm hose and of course the cdti airbox.

where would i get this from?

also i already have a green cotton air filter and veccy intake pipe, i take it these would work with both the 1.9/2.2 airbox
