Ok currently looking at mk4 estates but ive no idea on whats out there Ive heard mixed reports on the diesel engines - are these any good? if so are there any tuning boxes out there i can stick on?

What petrol models are out there? any recomendations? also trim levels?

iirc the elegance is the best model you can get and the envoy the lowest.

elegance deisel would be the one to get but im not sure if they were made
the estate is a cracking car, ive spent thousands on mine and would never part with it

the 8v is not bad on fuel but there's not much power in them.
the 2.0 deisel will be much faster and cheaper to run imo.

I have the 1.7td 8v estate, its a nice drive, plenty of room(I do kayaking, fishing, camping etc.. and have no problems at all with room, not to mention 3 kids!)

I recently had to get a new fuel pump, also had to replace a front brake caliper, but can't really complain about those 2 faults on a now 11year old car!!

Its comfy, pulls a 16foot NATO inflatable with a 30hp outboard on it without any problems,3 adults+a bootfull of fishing gear!(did have a wee struggle going up the highlands when the EGR kept jamming shut!! common problem though, which is getting blanked off next weekend)

I have the LS,only has electric front windows, not sure I want rear ones with the kids atm.

Its the best car Ive ever owned, and I love it even though its not a racing machine!
