My ex husband used to be one, he was a static one in a building, and also a mobile guard where he had a fourtrack in case he had to go offroading.

Long hours, but quite good money.

Hopes dad does security at a local hotel saturday nights, quite an easy job, but boring if theres nobody else there.

Exact job spec would be good. The term 'security guard' can mean a lot these days and not necessarily what you think!

Hi, sorry to hear you lost your job, I lost mine in November, and took a temp job at Royal Mail over Christmas.
Didnt last long, as I got another job I applied for following week.
    Anyways......
My father in law is a security job for a bank. It seems actually alright, but can get failrly boring. day shift involves welcoming customers, and locking up. Night shift involves sitting in a rest room downstairs, and doing 3 rounds of the building in an 8 hour shift.
