Looking for a bit of feedback on what to do with the grille...

As with the other thread, i'm looking to paint the 'V' black. So far, i've just finished doing the 2nd coat of paint.

My car is a MK4 in midnight black & i'm undecided on what to do with the badge...

    IDEA #1: Keep it normal

Just a case of sticking the following back on the badge holder & job done

    IDEA #2: Irmscher badge

I e-mailed a seller on eBay where they got this badge from (notice the red dot on the 'i' but they wont reply.
I can get an alternative (see pic) without the red dot on the i. I know it's minor detail, but the white dots seem so easy to get, so a red dot would be slightly different. ANYWAY....

And the badge i can get hold of...

    IDEA #3: Paint the griffin

Just had this idea today & as i'm quite poo with paint shop/photoshop etc, i can't have a fiddle to see how it'd look.

the idea is, the 1st pic in this thread, somehow mask off the black, and paint the griffin an alternative colour - blue, red, whatever.
The g/f was speaking about some glass paint from B&Q, but i don't get what she's on about really. The way she put it to me, i can't see it working.
Different. Not sure if it's tacky different, or, just different different lol

Anyway, feedback, good or bad, as always is welcome

    Keep it Vauxhall IMO

Irmschite has been so devalued by people sticking a badge on virtually everything that it means less than sticking an eBay badge on a car.

    Irmschite badges are trite IMO

Yeah, i hear what you're saying about the irmscher stuff

I've seen a couple Vauxhall's lately (funnily enough, all MK4 Astra's) around here that have the irmscher badge stuck on the boot. Thing is, everything else about the cars from what i've seen, is 100% standard (as in, no irmscher stuff in place at all, interior/exterior).

Thing here is though, if i keep it Vaux, do i keep it as it is (i.e. silver griffin) or change its colour for something slightly different?
I think it could run the risk of looking cack, but i'm not sure. I should possibly ask the g/f to work her P.S. magic. Just wondered what you guys thought of it.

Glad you got my dift about Irmscher overusage syndrome

You could try reversing the colourway on the badge - ie black griffin on a star silver background (brings a bit of colour coding in too). I'm not not sure what it'll look like but, it'd be a subtle detail that not many would spot... but unless it's 100% perfect it'll look shit.

Aye, that's what i'm well aware of

I'll get the g/f to have a play on P.S. to give me a better idea of the visuals.

The irmscher badge was a bloody rip of price too. £10 for that, which is another reason i was a bit reluctant over it.

    Cheers for the feedback

Well it was attempted roughly (& i use that word VERY selectivley) on paint...

    BLUE:

    RED:

    BLACK & WHITE/SILVER:

Only thing is, how best to tape up the part not wanting to be painted at the time

The g/f suggested tracing paper & covering the part not needed painting, but i think it'd be bloody difficult & the paint would run under the paper perhaps, making it look beyond cack. I dunno.

There are loads of places that will make up custom gel circle stickers - trying to paint the badge yourself could be a royal pain in the back-end!
