    Astra Turbo 190

    Hi all
    After 18 months away from Astras it look like i may be returning to the fold

    I am off to look at a Turbo 190 later on but would like to know what i s hould be looking for for the signs i shouldnt buy it

    it has a slight leak from the rocker cover but bar that the bloke says its tidy few stone chips etc

    any info appreciated and also how to look for it

    Well, in engine terms, smoke. Blue smoke will be turbo seals(which could mean turbo bearings), valve stem seals or piston rings(or ringlands). So basically any blue smoke 'could' be uber expensive. Black smoke just means its running rich and it could be a cheap fix, but a big bargaining point. Make sure you try all the electrics out while your there, and be sure to have the seller leave it stone cold for when you arrive, so you can see how it starts and runs from cold. If it feels like a tight smooth car, then buy it, and enjoy

    first things first, it has the GSi bumper. front wings 'look' different shade of silver to the doors. which 'may' hint at accident damage as it also has a gsi bumper

    yeah John,
    I have a keen eye for bodywork had many cars resprayed so can spot the flaws if its been done
    Its more then mechanical side i need advice on as ill be honest i am poor on that
    Its a good price so if it does need little bits doing i dont mind

    Looks a cheap car a 3k mate, but i would budget for some painting, check all normal stuff, check front slam pannel, do a hpi, make sure it pulls all through the rev range and make sure it dont smoke at all
