    Throttle Cable.

Have absolutly no idea where to put this (sorry mods).

So just really want to know whats involved and how much to get a new rev cable, my car is trying to kill me.

Thought it was the idle rev valve, so GB changed that for me, but yesterday i set off, got into second and there was no power, so i pushed the pedal (new shoes thought it was me being thick) and the car took off, took my foot off the pedal but it carried on going, gaining speed (luckily only in second). Needless to say i poo'd myself and slammed the anchors on, but it's left me terrified of driving it now.

Anyhoo, kinda guessed it's more likely to be the rev cable sticking???

I think you mean throttle cable

Can you defo feel it sticking/juddering when you move the pedal? try it by hand as you'll get a better 'feel'

Doesn't always do it, it can be a month in between so when it does it's a bit of a surprise. All i know is even with my foot no where near the pedal the revs climb as if i've got the pedal flat to the floor. But like i say, beforehand there was no power. ???

Is this within 5-10 minutes of starting the car or does it happen later on too?

My guess to this is either a badly gummed up throttle body or cable is knackered

It's only ever done it when i've literally just started the car, before i've set off, but last night it was within maybe 30 secs of starting the car, just as i'd set off, as i say i'd only just set off only just got into second.

Do you really expect me to be able to answer that? Would the choke make the car drive itself?

Just been to Chris' and it's not the throttle body, and the cable looks fine, possibly a sensor?

Do you think that's the problem though? I know i'm no mechanic, but ICV means to me it controls the revs whilst idling no? In which case it shouldn't have been a problem when driving?

Knowing me i'm totally wrong, however if you think it's still the ICV then please do get me another
