    Z16XE starter motor

I have just been informed that my starter motor has loose connection or the most probable thing is its knackered all together,

Question 1 How much for a new one or is it worth looking at second hand

Question 2 Would I be able to fit it myself

Question 3 I have read on a thread that you can give it a love tap and maybe it will start, can you do this from opening the bonnet or do you have to be under the car, plus where is it located?

    thanks

    1) reconned motors are around the £50-60 mark

    2) its usually 3bolts and 2 nuts (which have the power wires)

    3) no tapping unless its jammed in place, or if u have a broken lead it MIGHT work but not a good thing to do everyday.

id prolly check the leads on the end of the motor 1st before buying a new one tho.

how many miles has the car done?

50quid gets u a brand new one delivered. This has been covered twice already in just a few days. I.m on phone at mo so can't post the link but if its not in here its in the mk4 elec forum and is a thread by a member called nry.

Don't waste time with a 2nd hand one when new are so cheap

Once ur old one is off u may be able to repair it and get some money back. . . Or just repair and reuse . . Personally i.d prob just replace :-)
