Question Panel Filter vs Cold Air Induction Kit

I have a 1.6 8V X16SZR engined Astra G. I would like to warm it up a bit and make it a bit more responsive. I am looking to change or mod the air filter and have seen the how to. I have also seen the K & N Cold air Induction kit which replaces the stock air filter box.

Can anyone tell me which give the best increase in performance? As a matter of course, if I stick with the stock air filter box, I will derestrict it, change the inlet hose for the Vectra C diesel induction hose, and will change the filter to a decent K & N or similar panel filter.

I want to keep the MPG or improve if possible, but make it a bit more responsive.

    Thank you

this engine responds very well to induction kits but youd probs be best off goin the derestrict method

just note that when u remove the original air intake pipe from the slam panel youll be left with a small vacuum pipe running from the throttle body - either fit a small self tapper in the end or trace the pipe to the throttle body and block off the throttle body end

the same goes for that daft hose that goes from the exhaust manifold heat shield to the original air intake

remove the hose and bin it - its just there to flow hot air into the air intake on cold starts.....might make sense to engineers when designing the damn thing but in real life its bad.... cold air is what u need so ditch all that shit

any questions gimme a shout mate
