    Question Fitting a C20xe Redtop in2 a mk4

    Iv got a 1998 S reg 1.8 16v Sport (X18xe1) & im going 2 be fitting 2.0 16v Redtop (C20xe) later this year.
Just got a few fitting question....
    • What can i make the front engine mount out of (iv heard u can adapt certain mounts 2 work).
    • Do i still use the existing PAS pump off the (X18xe1)or the 1 off the C20xe?
    • I believe i need 2 keep both ECU's,where do i house the C20xe ECU once fitted?
    • What is the best Gearbox 4 me 2 use (f16,f18,f20,f23 or other)?
    • Do i still use the X18xe drive shafts?
    • Does the X18xe1 have a fuel return line.
    • Do i keep X18xe1 fuel tank & fuel pump?
Any help on the above would be very much apreciated.

    Thanks in advance .

    Hi Taff.

    I am using a M-Tech drivers side mount and M-Tech F28 conversion kit. Obviously I am using a F28

With regards to the two ECU's, you would have to run both yours and the XE's side by side. With around 7 or 8 cables that need connecting to your old ECU. I have been advised to sit the XE ECU behind the dials!

Your PAS is electronic not belt driven so no need to worry about that

I think yours does have a fuel return line, I can't be 100% though. If not it's a simple process to install one! Plus, the X18's FPR is easy to remove too, it's just underneath the back seats! The standard pump and tank can be used with no problems

I hope that helps, as it sure helped me when other people told me

f23 will bolt on, so mounts on that are fine, removes the problem of hydrolic clutch convesion, front hubs are fine, would need gsi or simla drive sharfs, engine mounts wise im sure a z20let is not far off correct or a 2.0 eco tec mk4 one thats where im starting and going from there, will let you know when ive sorted more out, mtec convesion to much money! im going for standalone ecu running alongside standard stuff as im using carbs. hope that hleps a little bit, have a look on migweb, alot more info on there!

    C20xe ECU location.
    Your aircon pump&mount (if u have 1).
The route u have used for ECU wiring.

& maybe just a couple of hole lot.

I know its a big ask but would be much appreciated .
