    laptop problems

    hey,
i got a lap top from pc world ages ago and the 3 year warrenty is about to run out. last month it kept overheating and turning off so i took it back to get it fixed before the warrenty ran out. just got it back and it still gets really hot but doesnt turn off and you can hear the fan running but i dont remember it getting this hot before it broke, and also someone has installed a game on it. do you think i have the right to take it back and say im not happy with the repair?

Possibly, what type of laptop is it? Where is the laptop set? On a hard flat surface i hope.

if i were you i'd take it back and say your not happy with what theyve done as it never ran that hot before you took it too them

in my experience with other peoples "repaired" computers from PC World they just bypass the problem rather than fixing it.. i expect theyve just increased the threshold that the CPU can run at (temp wise)
altho it stops your restarting problem .. it'll just kane your CPU and decrease its operational life.

i would ask for a direct replacment .. if they cant do that then ask for a like for like alternative

imo if theyre as close to liquidation as everyone says they're then they should be glad for the business.

Laptops should only be used on a hard flat surface, they shouldn't be set on your knee or on the couch as this stops airflow and kill the laptop very quickly. You can pick up cushions in ikea with a hard top meant to for laptops so you can sit it on your knee.

What is the model of the laptop? Some laptops are known to run warm but will be perfectly fine, what exactly did they do to "fix" the laptop?

They may also have installed the game to push the processor, graphics & memory to the limit so it makes the laptop work harder.
Sometimes this is done to test for overheating, but most companies normally have their own soak test that they perform for this problem.

This is pc world we are talking about here, they probably booted the machine up, opened notepad for 5 minutes and assumed all was fine.
