    rust removing

    Hi Yall
i have found a few spots of rust on the arches and abit on the back wing. Not major rust but just started to show under paint. What is the routine with removing the rust, repairing and repainting?. I have an idea what to do but want some more info b4 i go and destroy the bodywork . Its a hatchback in some type of red. (will look up paint code laters)

In all honesty I would replace the arch. No point messing around with rust treatment etc. It shouldn't cost much more then £700 to have new arches welded in

Well, rust is a right pain in the arse! Once it is in the panel that's it, you will never be able to get rid of it! The only way to truly get rid is to replace the damaged panel

Or, if you were thinking about selling soon you could just treat it and paint over it. It will come back after a few months though!

So a new arch is preferable over cutting out the rust and mesh / filler building?

I suppose it depends on the rust patch size?

Well it would be cheaper to buy a new arch. New arches for 3 door Astra G's are around £30 each if I remember rightly. That is pattern though!
