    F23 v's M32

Got Regal Phase 3 on my Astra Mk4, and now the clutch is on its last legs (only standard).

Been quoted £780 for uprated clutch, new bearing, and labour to fit.
This will go up to £980, as i want the lightened flywheel to go with it.

I know a few people have put the M32 gearbox in their MK4's. I also know that as well as the gearbox, you also require Z20LEL driveshafts, but what else is required to put the box in?

Also, any figures on the overall costs to convert would be very much appreciated.

So long as you've got the right driveshafts which aside from sourcing the gearbox is the most expensive part the only bits left to get are a 6 speed gear selector (£50-75 from a breakers), a VXR teleflex selector cable (£20-30 i think, not sure), VXR gearbox mount (not sure on price but shouldn't be more then £30) and finally a VXR clutch and flywheel, which if not fitted to the M32 gearbox you have will be about £150-200. If you PM Gman he should have most of the things already, i know he has a few M32 gearboxs. Ask nicely he should fit it for you too

You can get a Helix cutch fitted and lightend flywheel for sub £900, the f23 is a good strong box.

Doesn't have a sixth gear though does it lol. I wouldn't ever take my F23 back, my M32 is so much smoother and the extra mileage i get now is a godsend.

I must admit, the phase 3.5 is taking its toll on my F23 plus i'd love to sit at lover revs on the motorway.

Danny let me know how you get on with the shafts!!

Theres a Few f23`s running with over 500bhp and 400lb/ft, thats why im keeping mine and the clutch, flywheels and diffs are cheaper.

Hmm I know what you mean Tricky mate - 1 question is the low end better on the M32 or not as I have some right trouble with wheel spin off the torque on mine??

I know take your foot off and get an LSD etc etc but it'll sometimes spin in 4th if it's damp or wet and 3rd in the dry lol especially on a winding camber like a smallish island..
