    try this pic:

I think its a water housing or similar, its removed from the right side of the engine block at the top, next to the battery tray. A big waterpipe connects to it from the rear of the engine too.

Its part of the water channel for the cooling of the block. The sensor you can see is the coolant temp sensor, is about £3 for a new one.

It comes with a metal washer on it, when i removed mine previously after 60k it was still fine so imagine yours will be alright. The sensor is dead easy to test if you have a multimeter to hand.

its not alright though, thats why i took it off.

The sensor is fine too, water was bubbling from around the top, where the two holes/paths are, but i think there was a gasket behind it to stop this, and I think the gasket went and its causing it to buble. Vaux cant even find the above part on their system so i cant find a gasket. Ive also got gasket paste if its just that, rather than a real gasket?

The actual name for that part in question is

Ignition Coil Carrier (also Flange, Water Outlet) and its current part number is 90499072 (when it was used on the XEV engine this is the plate where the coil sat on - the square area with the 4 torx bolts)

The corresponding gasket is part number 24416792

Thankfully I was working with this part today so knew exactly what u meant
