Red face so who here ever locked themselves out of the car

I was fitting my new speakers to the inner door and was pushing the car back with the keys in palm when i pressed the fob.

However in my stupidity I didn't repress it off and 15mins later closed the door with the keys on the floor of the passenger foot well.

oops try the old school trick of coat hanger and realized that it didn't work at all on central locking. I once heard of a chopped in half tennis ball causing a vacuum against the keyhole....

Didn't work either so now I have to wait 2-3 days for a key to be sent too me from base in south west wales.

    Any suggestions.... lol.

    Ohwell still found it funny

I did it the first day of owning my first mk4 I stuck my head in the window to show my mate how the windows roll back down to stop you from chopping kids heads off. I missed judged it and the window shut the car was locked at the time and locked my keys in with the engine running. Had to call my old girl up with the spare key

My old Cav SRi had a Clifford alarm on it with 30 sec auto-locking /arming. Doing a night shift at the bakery, I was under the bonnet looking for a coolant leak with the engine running. Failing to find it, I went round to the drivers door, stopped the engine and closed the door. I stood there for a bit scratching my head wondering where the leak was... suddenly I thought "Shite!! The door!"

I bolted round the side of the car and reached the handle just in time to see the door pin drop down and the alarm beep!!

I ended up having to borrow a mates pushbike to ride home through freezing fog at 2am wearing jeans and a t-shirt to go and get my spare keys off my parents! And to top it all, a couple of days later the top hose popped off and sprayed hot coolant in my face as I was looking for the same leak! I managed to duck most of it, but I still got a face full of spray... felt like I'd dipped my face in acid

Heh,I remember years ago when I was about 10years old,my mum had a sheety lada and managed to lock her keys in it down at blackpool,I picked up an old lolly stick, snapped it along its length, stuck it in the keyhole and opened the door.
Still don't remember where I learned that trick, surprisingly my mum rather than being happy thought I was turning into a car thief lol.

I've done it twice, but luckily both times my daughter has been in the car, and after much coaxing i've managed to get her to wind a window down or something, the first time it was steaming hot, she was in the car, and i have 3 council workmen who happened to be passing by using all the tools they could find to try and get her out.
